In support of National Manufacturing Month Elk Grove Village, home of the largest industrial park in the United States, is inviting manufacturers from the Midwest to the inaugural Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing Expo to connect, collaborate, and cultivate new relationships in efforts to position the Chicagoland region as a “Midwest Supply Chain” in attracting both national and international business.

As part of the National Manufacturing Day initiative in October, IMEC has been working with Illinois legislators across the state to spread the word about the great companies and manufacturing activities happening in their districts.  From northern to southern Illinois, multiple Representatives came out in support of manufacturing. A number of additional visits are scheduled for the coming weeks; stay tuned for new updates!

For over 20 years, Illinois EPA has been placing 15 to 20 upper-level university students at facilities around the state to work on pollution prevention projects during the summer.  The purpose of the student internship program is to help facilities reduce environmental impacts, improve efficiency and save money.  The program is also designed to provide college students with practical work experience and the opportunity to make an environmental difference.

Throughout the month of October, we're celebrating National Manufacturing Day in Illinois. Sumitomo Corporation of America and Nippon Sharyo USA are the chosen manufacturer of 130 new Bi-Level Passenger Railcars for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). Sumitomo is currently seeking DBE and Small Businesses to participate in the supply and delivery of materials, services and equipment for this project.
