The Southern Illinois Occupational Safety & Health (SIOSH) Day conference will be on October 30th in Carterville, Illinois.  We are excited to announce a full line up of presentations from the U.S. Department of Labor and Illinois Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health programs.

Safety and HealthA series of blogs will be produced to share resources on the topics to be presented.  This should help prepare company safety teams to gain a better understanding of tools available and prepare staff.

Nick Walters began his career with OSHA in 1992 in the Aurora, Illinois Area Office.  He worked as a Compliance Officer in Aurora and the Peoria, Illinois Area Office for 13 years.  He also served as the Audit and Analysis Team Leader in the Chicago Regional Office and then returned to Peoria as the Area Director.  Mr. Walters was named the Deputy Regional Administrator for the Chicago Regional Office in 2010 and Regional Administrator in 2012.  In this position, he is responsible for overseeing all OSHA programs within a six state Region consisting of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, and is also a certified CHST.

Aaron Priddy is the Area Director of the OSHA Fairview Heights Area Office.  Prior to his tenure as Area Director, Mr. Priddy was the Assistant Area Director of the Cleveland Area Office, OSHA Region V Machine Guarding Coordinator, and Safety Specialist – Compliance Officer with the Cleveland Area Office.  Mr. Priddy has been with OSHA for 15 years.  Prior to his tenure with OSHA, Mr. Priddy managed safety and health programs for a contract maintenance aviation firm, and provided consultation services through the North Tennessee Private Industry Council.  Mr. Priddy holds an OHST certification.

Cheryl Neff in the Division Manager at the Illinois Department of Labor – Safety Inspection and Education Division (IDOL-SIED).  Ms. Neff has been with IDOL-SIED for 18 years where she has developed the Illinois State Plan’s elements, procedures, budgets, grants, and IT network implementation.  Prior to her tenure with IDOL-SIED, Ms. Neff holds experience as a project manager, radiation technician, and directing a collegiate program.  Ms. Neff attended Purdue University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Health with two Majors:  Industrial Hygiene and Health Physics.
