BUILD YOUR TEAM: Career Pathways in Manufacturing

IMEC believes building quality, customizable training programs, and defining career pathways are the solutions to manufacturing workforce challenges of shortages of skilled workers, retiring workforce, and meeting the needs of innovative technologies that the current skills don’t quite match. The new Career Pathways in Manufacturing program aids companies in recruiting, succession planning, and developing the workforce of the future with skills training in high-demand technical areas.

The program offers training options for Entry, Career, and Advancement levels to help manufacturers build strong teams.

  • Entry-Level pathways combine hands-on training with related classwork that teaches the foundational skills for new shopworkers of various ability levels, backgrounds, and interests.
  • Career-Level pathways offer apprenticeship programs as a worker’s first step in committing to a high-skilled career. Apprenticeships provide paid positions to new employees along with custom, on-the-job training with seasoned professionals. Apprentices earn a nationally recognized credential at the conclusion of the program.
  • Advanced pathways motivate workers with career advancement opportunities. By earning additional credentials or advanced degrees, developing leaders can qualify them for elevated positions on their teams. Building a talent bench secures a company’s succession plan by preparing the next generation of leaders to be effective managers, supervisors, and more.

To help manufacturers, IMEC conducts a formal Gap Analysis to determine which pathways would best fit the needs of the organization and align with their strategic goals. Experts review the operation process, equipment, and workstations on the shop floor, and listen to their concerns/needs to determine the best pathways for the company. They work with organizations to develop the most flexible and relevant training plan that will accommodate their shop floor activities. Whether the company prefers online training, would like to collaborate with a local trusted training provider, or would like the IMEC technical team to create customized shop floor job-related training, Career Pathways in Manufacturing can accommodate them.

IMEC Career Pathways features include:

  • Turnkey Training Plans for several high in-demand jobs
  • US Department of Labor Register Apprenticeships for twelve occupations
