A couple of weeks ago, over 500 MEP center staff, partners, stakeholders, industry thought leaders, and NIST MEP staff gathered in Atlanta for the 2019 MEP National Summit. With the theme The United State of Manufacturing, this year’s summit intended to “lay the foundation for service and solutions that will grow the Network, improve the ways we serve small and medium-sized manufacturers, and strengthen and empower U.S. Manufacturers as we advance U.S. Manufacturing.”
The full agenda consisted of pre-summit sessions and 50 breakout sessions that covered best practices for leveraging partnerships, the current state of services and knowledge sharing, and manufacturing technology trend. It also included plenary sessions which featured keynote speakers who delivered practical insights, and structured networking breaks where attendees had the opportunity to build and strengthen relationships with each other.
On September 17, during the Foundation for Manufacturing Excellence Industry Awards, in honor of their commitment to manufacturing excellence in Illinois, two of IMEC’s team members were recognized with notable awards. Out of all the nominated well-qualified manufacturing experts from MEP Centers across the country, IMEC’s Jim Floyd and John Remsey were two of the chosen recipients.
Jim was awarded with Newcomer of the Year, which recognizes significant contributions of a MEP Center individual who embraces the MEP system philosophy, and in their first 18 months with a MEP Center has enhanced center services, or improved operations within the network.
The Practitioner of the Year was awarded to John. This award recognizes specialized contributions that have made significant impact in the MEP system – whether it is a new product or service, important process improvements, or developed and expanded knowledge management and sharing within an organization or across the enterprise.
